After a very successful run on the festival circuit (notably at the European Outdoor Film Festival – EOFT) and winning 7 awards at international film competitions, the documentary Keep It Burning, featuring Spanish climber Edu Marín, is finally available online on YouTube.
Edu Marin climbs “Eternal Flame” on Nameless Tower in Pakistan (full film)
One of the most beautiful alpine routes in the world, a crack at 6,000 meters altitude in perfect granite.
The Karakorum is without a doubt one of our planet’s wildest, most remote mountain ranges. In the heart of the Baltoro Glacier Basin rises one of the mountain world’s major wonders: Trango Towers’ spectacular Nameless Tower.
In 1989, on this exposed spire that rises to more than 6200 m elevation, Wolfgang Güllich and Kurt Albert put up the legendary route Eternal Flame ( IV 7c+ / 5.13a, 650m). It was freed for the first time in 2009 by Alex and Thomas Huber. Since then, several of the world’s most talented climbers have made attempts to free the beast of a line without ever being able to repeat the feat.

A family affair
in the mountains of Pakistan
Fifteen years later, Spanish climber and mountaineer, Edu Marin, accompanied by brother Alex and father Novato (71 years old at the time of the climb!) set off with the crazy idea of making the second free ascent of the legendary line. An extraordinary adventure over more than two years: fixing ropes up the entire wall and long weeks spent at high altitude, including ten days enduring a storm.
Can you say tenacity?
I had the honor and pleasure of producing this 30-minute film, which tells the story of an amazing family expedition filled with both adventure and emotion. It is now available for viewing for free on YouTube.
Don’t miss out!
